In 2007 the University of Newcastle was the founding partner with the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) to provide networking opportunities and events for all graduates of all Australian Universities in China. We encourage you to become members and get involved with these events. They are active in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Dr Junhua Wang - Finalist 2009 Australia China Alumni Awards

Congratulations to Dr Junhua Wang - Lecturer, School of Communication and Transport Engineering, Tongji University. Dr Wang was a finalist for the inaugural Qantas Alumni Award for Research and Innovation.

Dr Wang Junhua is an alumnus of the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Master of Engineering Management in 2003. He went on to complete his PhD studies at Tongji University, Shanghai in 2008. He currently works at this University in the School of Transport Engineering, focusing on research in Road Safety. He is also a lecturer within this school.

A leading researcher in his field, Dr Wang was also awarded the 2006 Excellent Member in Changsanjiao Region Cooperation Projects in Changsanjiao Region 16 Cities Economic Cooperation Office and the 2008 Research Pioneer in Tongji University for his commitment to academic research. Dr Wang has contributed significantly to the safety of Chinese citizens and infrastructure and has worked on numerous innovative research projects in his field of road safety and highway planning and design.

Dr Wang Junhua’s current research projects include: Energy-conserving and Environment-protective Structure System and Safety Technology of Urban Underground Expressway funded by Committee of Science Shanghai key research project, Traffic Management Technique on Emergency in Changsanjiao Region funded by National 863 High-Tech Project, Key Technology of Road Traffic Safety Technology funded by Key Projects in the National Science & Technology Support Program and other road safety projects.

Australia China Alumni Awards - 2010

The “Australia China Alumni Awards” are a new initiative of the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) and CPA Australia. The awards will recognize and promote the exceptional and diverse achievements of Australian-educated university alumni who are now based in China.

Seven awards will be made in different categories, to alumni that have achieved exceptional results in their field of endeavour. The recognition of highly-successful alumni will also demonstrate how an Australian university education can help people to succeed in an international context and across a variety of fields.
